I personally interviewed sixteen professional track and field athletes, ten males and six females. My selection requirements included that they had to have participated in national and/or world-wide competition. All interviews were recorded and transcribed for the book. Additionally, I asked them about their legacy, i.e. "What did they want to be remembered as?" Each athlete responded to other questions such as what they would do if they came into a large amount of money? Lastly, I questioned them about their role models, who they were and what experiences they learned from them.
