Publisher Description:

Buckley the Yowie has lived in Australia since time began. He is immortal, loveable, magical, but mistaken and misjudged by the Aboriginal people. In the early 1800s he meets and befriends an escaped convict called William Buckley. They learn much from each other and eventually the Yowie takes William's last name as his own and becomes Buckley.

After 30 years with the Aborigines, William returns to his own people. Buckley, alone again, goes on Walkabout for the remainder of the century, eventually settling in Kilcoy, Queensland, and becoming part of the Taylor family.

Along the way he encounters famous Australians from history, not all good, but these are for other stories. Buckley is of the old school; innocent and trusting. He is eager to learn new things, but also keen that people can all be friends and live together in harmony.

The Buckley stories are about his adventures with the Taylor family, where he experiences love, companionship, adventures and tragedy, blended in to the real history of Australia.
