Contributor Bio(s): Myrick, Karen: - Karen M. Myrick, DNP, APRN, FNP-BC, ANP-BC, is a professor at Quinnipiac University with a joint appointment in the School of Nursing and the Frank Netter School of Medicine. She practices clinically as a nurse practitioner in Orthopedics and Sports Medicine in Glastonbury and Farmington, Connecticut, and her research focuses on athletes and sports medicine. The recipient of multiple grants, Dr. Myrick developed a newly designed physical examination technique for determining hip labral tears, The Hip Internal Rotation with Distraction (THIRD) test. In addition to publishing regularly in peer-reviewed journals, Dr. Myrick has written an academic book chapter on preventing childhood obesity. She is the senior editor of the Journal of Clinical Case Reports, and she recently received an award for Outstanding Poster at a national nurse practitioner conference for her work on Recruiting and Retaining the Best and the Brightest Nurse Practitioner Faculty. (She has received several awards for Outstanding Poster at many other national conferences.) Dr. Myrick is the winner of the 2016 National Organizations of Nurse Practitioner Faculties (NONPF) Outstanding Researcher Award. |
