Contributor Bio(s): Gargiulo, Richard M.: - Richard Gargiulo is a professor of special education in the School of Education at the University of Alabama, Birmingham. He received his Master's degree and PhD from the University of Wisconsin, Madison. In 1999, he was awarded the University's President's Award for Excellence in Teaching. He has also served as a Fulbright Scholar to the Czech Republic and has authored numerous books on the subjects of special education, early childhood education, and child abuse and neglect. He has been president of the Council for Exceptional Children and president of the Division on Autism and Development Disabilities of the Council for Exceptional Children. Burton, Nancy G.: - Nancy G. Burton, Ed.D., is a Professor of Education/Special Education at Concord University. Dr. Burton has more than 38 years of experience as an educator including service as an English teacher, a special educator, Curriculum and Instruction Specialist, Section 504 Coordinator, and most recently, Professor of Education/Special Education. Dr. Burton works extensively with the WV Office of Special Programs (Special Education) and has been the recipient of multiple WV School Improvement Grants. Additionally, Dr. Burton is a certified trainer/professional developer of the Kansas University Strategy Intervention Model strategies and Content Enhancement Routines. She has prepared ancillary materials for multiple textbooks and has served as consultant for online course development. Creating Effective IEPs is Dr. Burton's first textbook. |
