Publisher Description:
What does it mean to live in God's Will? How do we even begin to understand what God wants for us and how to make decisions that fit that pattern? How do you start as a new Christian and grow to a point where you can trust God wholly and completely? What does it take to get there? As a Christian, I have been told most of my life that I must surrender to God and allow Christ to be my Lord and Savior. I have spent most of my life trying to figure out what that means. We have little understanding of the word "Lord," much less what it means to be subservient to someone or something. It would be great if there were a definition of exactly what it means to accept Christ as our Lord and Savior. Maybe a list of things you have to do for this to happen. A checklist of sorts that we could attack, one at a time, until we were "there." But, alas, no such list exists. And this book will not be that list for you either. But, hopefully, it will help you along your journey as you try to reach that "place" where you Live in God's Will. In Matthew 6:10, in Jesus' example of how to pray, he prays "...your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven." It is God's Will that we must desire. In Heaven, apparently, all creatures live in God's Will and that is all that is done. That may be one of the things that makes Heaven so special. There are no arguments; no disagreements; no committees to make decisions; no fighting... everything is done according to God's Will and every creature wants it that way. When Jesus prayed in the Garden of Gethsemane (Matthew 26:39) he added: "Yet not as I will, but as you will." Jesus was showing us how to start the process. We need to be able to give up our will and tell God that we choose to trust Him and His Will for us. The first step - Choose to desire to Live in God's Will, and tell Him I suggest to you that like Love, living in God's Will is not a feeling we have, it is a decision we make. We decide to love someone by choosing to do for them, for their good, with no expectation of anything in return. When we decide that we want to Live in God's Will, we must not only make the choice, we must pray for help and remind ourselves in prayer that this is what we want: to be out of control. We want to let God be in control. To do what HE wills for us, not what we want. It is a big decision, and it is the right decision. But it is also one that is difficult to make at first. But eventually, we must "Let Go, and Let God." One of the main reasons for me to do this study and to write this book, is because I need this, too. Right now, as I edit this, I am waiting on God and it is so hard not to be fearful, or to doubt, but I stand by my decision to trust him. My faith has never been stronger, but I still lack faith. If you are following Christ, you probably struggle with this as well. Not one of us is perfect in our walk or in our trust of God. But, by making certain decisions, repeating the process, and reminding ourselves of the promises of God, we can get stronger in our faith and eventually live in God's Will for us.
