Publisher Description: This project identifies and evaluates transit service alternatives in the Gettysburg, Pennsylvania area, including Gettysburg National Military Park, the Borough of Gettysburg, and surrounding townships. The report concludes that public transit would allay the problems of resource damage due to traffic congestion and off-road parking, which would lead to enhanced visitor experience. Based on discussions with park service personnel and analysis of park visitation data, Volpe recommends a time frame to utilize a transit network during the peak-demand season. Finally, recommendations are made as to which vehicles should be purchased, how the added operations and maintenance costs should be funded, and the best method of service delivery. |
