Publisher Description:
The surname "Gingerich" has been established as being Swiss in origin. Yost was one of the early settlers of that name in Pennsylvania. We know that in 1747, Yost bought land in what is now Lebanon County, Pennsylvania. He and his wife, Anna Huber, had at least eight children. The first volume of "The Gingerich-Gingrich Families" was about Yost and his oldest son, John. This second volume attempts to document the families and extended families of Yost's remaining seven children: Anna, Mary, Jacob, Peter, Christian, Michael, and Barbara. Due to space and time considerations, the extended families of these seven children will usually only extend down to the grandchildren, and sometimes the great grandchildren, of Yost. Close to 400 surnames are mentioned in this second volume. Many surnames have alternate spellings, and when known, they are included. At least 28 surnames have 10 or more first name references: Bachman, Bechtel, Behm, Bowman, Brown-Braun, Bucher, Burkholder, Coffman-Kauffman, Crider-Kreider, Gerberich, Gingerich, Harner, Hoffer, Hostetter, Landis, Light, Meyer-Moyer-Myer, Miller, Rauch, Shelley, Siegrist-Sechrist-Secrest, Smith-Schmidt, Snavely-Schnavely, Snider-Snyder, Stauffer-Stouffer-Stover, Wenger-Wingart, and Zimmerman. The surnames with the most references are Bowman, Burkholder, Gingerich, Snavely, Snyder.
