Publisher Description:
The novel, Three Lives of Simona Abrams: Unexpected Desire, portrays the various experiences of Simona's love and the affect of those experiences on her life and the lives of others. Part one deals with Simona's first love of her youth. She loves unselfishly, gives herself passionately, without asking anything in return. In spite of the strong bond she shares with the man she loves, the relationship ends unexpectedly, leaving her to grieve her lost love for years to come. In time, she leaves Europe and immigrates to Canada. Part two provides an example of a dysfunctional marriage. A desperate need to have a child of her own, overrides Simona's firm commitment, never to marry. Simona marries a wonderful young man, inevitably, like many other marriages; her marriage becomes dysfunctional in the fullest sense of the expression. Part three describes the cordial human relationship Simona develops with her doctor, a married man with three sons. Then suddenly and unexpectedly, they succumb to the urgency to fulfill their physical need for each other, even though, subconsciously they both know this would be the wrong thing to do. Simona goes home with the firm intent to tell her husband the truth, and that she was going to leave him. However, when she arrives home there is no need for her to tell him anything. In the mean time, Dr. Altamira has his own dilemma to deal with. He and his wife were high school sweethearts, and he feels like a complete hypocrite for violating the sanctity of his marriage because of his unexpected, overwhelming desire to possess another woman. It turns out that Simona becomes pregnant that first and the only time she and Dr. Altamira made love. However, she is again struggling between honesty and deceit, "to tell, or not to tell," and what it will mean for Dr. Altamira to know the truth.
