Publisher Description: Waashkiigmaang or Curve Lake First Nation. In it, I describe my process as an Anishnaabeg-nini involved in research in the village, the history before and after the creation of the Trent-Severn Waterways, our views as Anishnaabeg people on nbi or water, and future impacts or decisions regarding drinking water, wastewater, and local watersheds. The document follows a four-directional model that outlines some of the medicine wheel teachings. This is important as I am not disseminating or breaking down the knowledge that has been passed on to me, but rather, I am simply relaying the knowledge and making it accessible to the village. Even though this story is based on the research from the project Naanaagide'enmodaa Nibi: Let's Look After the Water, the research will still be ongoing, as nbi or water is our mother's life-blood, and without it, we would all perish. |
