Publisher Description: The difference between the NT prophetic and OT prophetic is clear when we consider the relative missions of each covenant. The OT was God revealing to men their fallen natures and their need for a new birth. It was the "word of condemnation." Hence OT prophets spoke words of condemnation in accordance with that mission and covenant. The NT is the covenant of the new birth and reconciliation. It is the covenant of faith. Hence ALL NT prophecies will speak words of faith and reconciliation. How do you judge these prophecies? You judge them by determining if they edify, comfort, or exhort us to better things. If you have a prophet that goes around stuck in the OT prophetic and all he does is speak words of condemnation... then you judge according to that guideline. |
