Publisher Description:
Unlikely FBI agent Mar'Shae McGurk, a high school dropout from "east of the river" in the District of Columbia who was redeemed in the military police, takes on two cases: corruption in a U.S. arms sale to the impoverished West African country of Niger and the murder of her young cousin in D.C.'s Simple City neighborhood. Both cases turn on using violence to get what you want - "shopping to get yours," in African-American street dialect. As Mar'Shae, known as "Black" by her family and friends, pushes hard on both cases they become dangerously intertwined. This is the second novel in a series featuring the street-smart McGurk. In the first, The Weathermen on Trial, a tweet by President Trump starts Black on a mission to track down political terrorists from the 1970s. About the Author: Caleb Stewart Rossiter has first-hand experience in the key areas Arms Deals covers: the international arms trade and congressional and non-governmental efforts to control it, African politics, high-poverty schools, and university teaching. He has been a congressional staffer, the leader of lobbying groups, a professor in America and Africa, and a D.C. teacher. Dr. Rossiter is an anti-imperialist activist and scholar who has written three non-fiction books on U.S. policy toward the formerly-colonized countries. He recently decided to explore these issues in fiction, by slipping them into law enforcement thrillers featuring Special Agent Mar'Shae McGurk. His work can be found on calebrossiter.com.
