Scat agrees and works with Tiger to make and sell sandwiches. With the help of some of their other friends, Scat and Tiger learn important lessons about key financial concepts including selling, estimating, pricing, product cost, labor cost, gross profit and net profit.

Excerpt:

"Hello Tiger," says Scat. "Would you like a sandwich?"

"Yes please," says Tiger. "You make the best sandwiches."

"Thank you," says Scat.

"Tuna fish and liver," says Tiger. "That is my favorite."

"I like tuna fish and chicken bits," says Scat.

"And tuna fish and bacon," says Tiger.

"You can't really go wrong with tuna fish," says Scat.

"Your sandwiches are so good I bet you could sell them," says Tiger.

"I can smell them" says Scat. "It is probably the tuna fish...or maybe the liver."

"I said sell them, not smell them," says Tiger.

"What does that mean?" asks Scat.

"You give people sandwiches and they give you something in return," says Tiger.

"What would they give me?" asks Scat.

"They could give you feathers and yarn," says Tiger. "Feathers and yarn are very important to cats."

"Feathers and yarn are very important to cats," says Scat. "But who would we sell the sandwiches to?"

"The other cats in the neighborhood." says Tiger.

"They do like my sandwiches," says Scat. "And I could use more feathers and more yarn."

"Yes," says Tiger. "And I can help you."

"Okay," says Scat. "How many sandwiches should we make?"

"Let's count our friends," says Tiger.

About the Author:

Dominic Villari is well versed in the art and science of making stuff up and is often caught talking to things, especially when they don't work right or are difficult to put together. These pursuits occasionally spill out onto paper in illustrated children's books such as Sun and Moon, Bear is Hangry and The Yelling Monsters and fiction books such as The Wandering Princess and Talks to Things. He lives in New Jersey with his wife and daughter, both of whom have gotten better about knowing when he's making stuff up.
