Publisher Description:
Satire is one of the most impressive literary forms which can indirectly reflect upon the vices, follies, and shortcomings of human life and society at large. From time immemorial this form of literature points out at the paradoxes and contradictions hidden inside all forms of social norms and customs. May it be the plays of great Aristophanes in ancient Greece or the verse satire of great Roman poets Horace and Juvenal or the journalistic satire of the modern age and postmodern era, satire has a significant role to play to shape the socio political and economic history of the era. Although in this era of visual and graphic revolution we can say that we live inside the flood of satirist depictions and representation of life, the forms of satire which are used currently are mainly journalistic and visual satire. Pure forms of verse satires and intensely funny poems which use irony, parody or simple rhyming are relatively rare in this era. Satirist Manifesto is an experiment to revive satires in verse form and use different rhyming schemes to rekindle laughter.
