Publisher Description:
The year was 1967. The Popular British Invasion around the mid-1960s was in full swing. Rock and pop acts from the United Kingdom were taking continents on both sides of the Atlantic by storm. Along with the music, other aspects of British cultures were brought in as well. The new sound and style became significant to the rising "counter-culture" on both sides of the Atlantic. Pop and rock groups such as the Beatles, the Dave Clark Five, The Kinks, the Rolling Stones, Herman's Hermits, the Animals, and the Yard Birds were at the forefront of the invasion. Teenagers threw off the restrictive bonds practiced by parents who grew up in the 50's and began to emulate their favorite rock stars. Boys let their hair grow long; wore flashy shirts and bell-bottomed trousers; high-heeled pointy-toed shoes or sandals; turtleneck sweaters and pea jackets in the fall and winter. Girls braided their hair and put flowers in it. Churchill's famous V for "victory" sign became the universal sign for "peace." A monosyllable phrase such as "Peace, Man," was said frequently. In a little town in northern Quebec, four musicians decide to form a rock band playing covers of all their favorite British and American rock bands. John Walker, the son of a miner knew that he wanted to be a musician from the moment his fingers touched the strings of an old Jazz guitar in the radio studio where his sister worked. Kevin, the son of a well to do family, dreamt of being a famous drummer, like his idol, Ringo Starr. Nathan, a handsome automobile mechanic with a great crooner's voice, dreams of forming a band and being its lead singer. And then there is Adam; the rebellious son who would rather play music than to work for his father's prosperous diamond drilling company. As they inaugurate their first gigs, their performances will be appreciated. Little did the foursome know that it would lead them on a series of adventures and interesting gigs, but unfortunately a murder will occur at many of them. They begin to suspect someone following them might be responsible for these killings; or could it be one of them? Could there be a wolf in the fold?
