Hazrat Nizamuddin Basti, located in the heart of Delhi, is one of the densest ensembles of medieval Islamic buildings of India. Along with its built heritage, it holds within a deep sense of tradition and culture reflected in the arts, poetry, music and cuisine of the area. This volume reviews the challenges of urban development around the 28 monuments of national significance located in the Basti, Sunder Nursery and the World Heritage Site of Humayun's Tomb, spread across 250 acres of land in the city.
