Publisher Description: Walter J Wojtanik found his start in wood, a byproduct of trees. It was providence, or at least a crafty pre-determination. And when we think of trees, we imagine the strong and deep roots that form their foundation. Solid and grounded, a tree grows to stand proud and strong because of this base. He came to find his voice through words and himself rooted in wood. Walter dabbles in poetry and carpentry. It always comes back to trees. "WOOD" carries a great significance for him. It was chosen as the title for two reasons. First, the majority of the poems in this chapbook is about his father, Walter Edwin Wojtanik, who was a gifted craftsman and carpenter who made amazing creations with wood. Secondly, the Wojtanik family lived in their ancestral home that was on Wood Street. Through his journey in poetry, Walter has tried to make a correlation between his adeptness with words as well as with woods. And it has allowed him to reconcile the conflicts in which he and his father engaged, finally to accept his share of the blame for them. This is Walter's first collection of his work. |
