No kidding, we're both in our thirties and we still love how a mondegreen becomes, in our imaginations, a catalyst of transformation into wholly different story. And of course, those stories are warped. We're Nick and Nik, after all, and we've been at this for most of our lives. It's something we do almost automatically with songs we like, or songs we're way too familiar with - like Christmas music. It's not hard to mishear a lyric of a Christmas tune, after all. There's dozens of versions of the most common ones, and at least a few for the lesser-knowns. Plus, you've heard those songs so many times over so many years that often you're only half-listening.
