Publisher Description: Yä Säbat-Bét Gurage Qyiça (Yäjoka law) was formulated by members of Säbat-Bét (literally 'Seven Houses') which includes Chaha (including Gummär), Ezha, Mihur (including Aklil), Geta, Ennemor (including Ennär), Maqorqor and Endagañ. These people usually send their representatives to Säbat-bet Gurage Shengo (council) called Yäjoka. It is named after a specific locality in Chaha, i.e. Yäjoka. It is derived from Guragigña term "Äej Wäkka" which literally reflects an old tree in the locality where one part of its branch supported the stem. In doing so, all the rules and regulations are enacted at Yäjoka square. |
