Publisher Description: The book documents the Inter-District disparity in terms of social development in Balochistan, which is the largest federation unit of Pakistan covering about 45% of the total country's area and is the least developed province in the country. The work focuses on objective well-being by taking indicators from education, health, and quality of living sectors to rank order the districts and identify the significant factors of inter-district disparity. The books reports that Quetta, which is the capital city is the only highly developed district and Musa Khel continues to be the most backward district in the Province. However, over short period of time moderately and under developed districts altered their position either upward or downward direction. Moreover, inter-district disparity is significantly reduced in quality of living as a whole, while primary enrollment male, child immunization, and sanitation facilities are the other significant factors of inter-district disparity reduction. However, this disparity has increased in terms of medical professionals (Doctors, nurses, midwives etc). |
