Publisher Description:
Biomaterials play an important role in artificial organ replacement. These biomaterials are used as scaffolds for the tissue growth. One such materials is poly(ε-caprolactone-co-lactide-co-glycolide) diacrylate (PCLLGA-DA), prepared by ring opening polymerization of lactide (LA), glycolide (GA) and ε- caprolactone (ε-CL), diacrylation and photo polymerization. The photopolymerized polymer films had good physical and mechanical properties and the in vitro biocompatibility studies showed positive results. However, in vivo biocompatibility test are necessary because the in vivo condition may produce different effects on the biocompatibility of polymer. This project deals with the biocompatibility evaluation and biodegradation evaluation of the polymer poly(ε-caprolactone-co-lactide-co-glycolide) diacrylate (PCLLGA-DA). The polymer is synthesized with different molecular weight by varying the amount of the initiator and the percentage of monomer is fixed at ε-CL-60 mol%, LA-20 mol% and GA-20 mol%. The resultant polymer films, produced after photopolymerization, were inserted into the subcutaneous layer of rats & bio compatibility was analysed
