Publisher Description: The Chilam Balam (or the book of the divination of the things occult) is a collection of books written during the 17th and 18th centuries in the Mayan language in Mexico. These texts claim to contain the secrets of the Mayans and are an important source for the knowledge of the religion, history, folklore, medicine, and astronomy of that culture. It is supposed that they had a large number of books in the collection of Chilam Balam (denominated with the names of the towns in which they were written), but one a handful have survived to this day.
