The Chilam Balam (or the book of the divination of the things occult) is a collection of books written during the 17th and 18th centuries in the Mayan language in Mexico. These texts claim to contain the secrets of the Mayans and are an important source for the knowledge of the religion, history, folklore, medicine, and astronomy of that culture. It is supposed that they had a large number of books in the collection of Chilam Balam (denominated with the names of the towns in which they were written), but one a handful have survived to this day.

El Chilam Balam (o el libro del adivino de las cosas ocultas) es una colecci n de libros escritos durante los siglos XVII y XVIII en lenguaje Maya, en el actual M xico. Estos textos pretendieron contener los secretos de los mayas y son una fuente importante para el conocimiento de la religi n, historia, folklore, medicina, y astronom a de dicha cultura. Se supone que hubo una cantidad mayor de libros en la colecci n de Chilam Balam (denominados con los nombres de lo pueblos en los que fueron escritos), pero solo un pu ado han sobrevivido hasta hoy.
