Contributor Bio(s): Alvarado, Pat: - Patricia Veazey Alvarado grew up in Abbeville, Louisiana. She graduated from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, with a degree in French and English. Then in a spirit of adventure she moved to the Republic of Panama to teach with the United Fruit Company. Later she received a Master's Degree in Educational Psychology from the University of Oklahoma. After her 30-year teaching career, she now dedicates her time to writing bilingual children's stories and to laughing, especially at herself. Her birding experience began with her mom's chickens, but she has since moved on to the ones that can actually fly. Pat resides in Panama with her husband.Hernandez, John a.: - John A. Hernandez (aka Jahnie Dez) has always loved to draw. As a child, he took part in several art competitions and community art projects that ranged from school murals to charity work. John is an occasional illustrator for Piggy Press Books and a professional fashion / graphic designer. When he's not brewing magic potions and teaching pigs how to fly, he loves to hang out with his family and play board games.
