The appearances of the three ghosts of Christmas are the common thread of the plot in the next three stanzas. Scrooge must accompany each of the ghosts to evoke moments of the first's childhood and youth, including the meeting with his sister Fan, who died young after giving birth and a Christmas party organized by her former boss. Mr. Fezziwig, settings characterized by their kindness and innocence. Another encounter allows him to learn about the poverty situation in which the family of his employee Bob Cratchit lives, whose youngest son, Tim, is seriously ill, and the way his nephew celebrates the holidays. However, the vision of his death after a lonely, "evil and stingy" life leads him to reflect and change his attitude, so that "I will honor Christmas in my heart and I will try to keep his spirit all year long.
