Publisher Description:
This is a story about a young African girl who had dreams of coming to America. An opportunity to fulfill those dreams comes In the form of a university education. However, as soon as she lands in the US, reality begins to slowly chip away at her expectations, and life as she knows it, is no longer the same. The transition from her mother's house into a dorm room, in a foreign land is brutal, and growing up quickly, is her first order of business. She faces moments of anguish, triumph and everything in between. Over time though, she comes to terms with her reality and is able adapt to a new life. She learns several lessons along the way, one of them being that success in life, is not guaranteed. However, the greatest lesson she derives from her experience is that life is not a one size fits all. Finally, her greatest wish is that we can all find our paths and follow them, so we don't end up 'chasing wind'.
