It's Father's Day at last, and Froggy is so-o-o excited. "We're going to play golf " he tells his dad. Oh no. Dad says Froggy's too little for golf. "But you're just the right size to play miniature golf " he explains. At the fun park, Froggy discovers mini golf is fun--especially once he figures out how to face the right way. With his beginners' luck, Froggy makes a hole in one But his next shot hits his dad on the head--bonk --and that's only the beginning. All ends well, though, when Froggy presents his dad with a special coffee mug he decorated in school: To the Best Dad I Ever Had

Though Froggy's intentions are good, his Father's Day plans don't turn out quite as expected. He burns breakfast and accidentally hits his father with a baseball bat, then with a golf ball. But the mug he specially hand-lettered for his dad makes up for the mishaps. The simple, slapstick story and the colorful illustrations will please die-hard Froggy fans. K-Gr 3-It's Father's Day, and the endearing young amphibian is looking forward to a special time with his dad. After a less than perfect breakfast, the two go to the park to enjoy in recreational activities such as miniature golf and bumper boats. Even though, in typical Froggy style, not everything goes smoothly-there are a few accidents and lots of plodding and flopping-in the end the day is a happy one for both of them. As in Froggy's previous adventures, the simple, energetic illustrations match the pleasantly ordinary and sentimental tenor of the text. This latest day in the life of Froggy is sure to elicit chuckles from readers and will be a welcome addition to any collection needing appealing stories about father-child relationships.-Holly T.
