Publisher Description: This is a story about Chickasaw Young People. The entire story revolves around very young teenagers having grave responsibilities forced upon them and how they handle the situation(s).Adults in the tale have taken a background role as support characters for four people aged thirteen and fifteen. The story gives credit to children that have had to step forward and become instant adults. They are forced to make live and death decisions, and they make some wrong ones along with some wise ones. The year 1200 was chosen as the time period of the tale. The Chickasaw People were in their middle development years as a society, so this gave an opportunity to use some of their lifestyles and social structures as the guiding influences over teenagers of that time. Most tales have a hero or a heroine. This story does not. There's only four main characters with a supporting cast. |
