She and her brother have a rare neuromuscular disorder called Riboflavin Transporter Deficiency Type 2 (RTD) that has caused them to be Deaf, legally blind, in a wheelchair and dependent on breathing assistance. She illustrates with her mouth using various mediums and tools. For this book, Paige used a technique called 'mouth painting, ' using stencils, textured paper and collages. All proceeds of this book go to charity, specifically to a foundation called Cure RTD, which is focused on researching and curing RTD.
