Publisher Description: Everyone has a bucket list. And on almost any motorcycle rider's list is some kind of remote destination --a dream journey. For many, that destination is the so-called "end of the world, ' in Ushuaia, Argentina. The 15 seasoned adventure motorcyclists in this book made the dream a reality as they negotiated an uncharted route to the southernmost tip of South America, on a journey dubbed Expedition 65. |
Contributor Bio(s): Palaima, Alfonse: - When not in Los Angeles, hiding from society and building websites for all his friends' companies, Alfonse is far, far away from home, collecting passport stamps, and slicing through traffic on two wheels with a smile on his face. While photography and travel are his biggest passions, motorcycles fight for top billing as they take him to his next location. Slowly rounding the world piecemeal, one country at at time, he has amassed hundreds of bylines, 23 countries and six of the seven continents to date... and longs for more. Having ridden countless miles, on countless motorcycles, he's still a rider like you and I, but he's also an industry journalist with 14 years under his belt. Since 2003, different motorcycles have come with each new assignment and journey; Harley-Davidsons in Japan and Morocco, Buells in Germany, Kawasakis in Central America, and BMWs in South America... as such, "fly-n-ride" is his middle name. You can follow Alfonse around the world on social media (@MotoInsiEvans, Colin: - Colin Evans is an unemployed software executive who writes a travel journal to entertain and annoy his still-employed friends. He grew up in England and avoided the family beer business by sliding into a career in software. After moving to Belgium and France, he ended up in Oregon, a motorcycling wonderland. Most of his career was with Intel Corporation, but he is now an investor and advisor to software startups. He came late to biking, but has fallen hard, with a collection of iconic sportbikes and a very worn-out BMW R1200GS to show for it. He has ridden and written about his adventure rides on four continents and the Isle of Man. The two ladies in his life, wife Rosine and daughter Claire, are far better writers. He shares his Portland home with two cats, Bug and Otto, who remind him every day how they feel about him by spraying under his desk. |
