Publisher Description:
A Beautiful Unraveling is Jennifer Patterson's poignant debut poetry collection that delves into matters of the heart and soul-the euphoria and longing of love, and the state of disarray it can leave one in; the bewilderment of darkness and the splendour of light in one's life; the resolute search for contentment; and the ultimate unraveling of oneself.

Paired up with Joyanna Em's delicate and lifelike water colors depicting Patterson's poetry with such raw emotion and depth, A Beautiful Unraveling is a collection that evokes in one a feeling of profound connection and authenticity-something that was once buried in the abyss but still dwells in the heart, awaiting to be unraveled and nurtured.

Praise for A Beautiful Unraveling:

Poignant, vivid, and imbued with raw emotion, A Beautiful Unraveling is a poetic window into the psyche. Accompanied by stunning watercolors and lines like, "What was once green and alive says its goodbyes in cinnamon leaves," Jennifer Patterson's chapbook will move, enchant, and make the reader say, "Yes Poetry is still alive." A Beautiful Unraveling is a truly beautiful work of art.
- Emma Eden Ramos, author of Still, At Your Door: A Fictional Memoir

A Beautiful Unraveling brings the simplicity of pure, stripped-down emotion to the poetry of desire. These lovely poems show us the music that dwells within longing, within heartache-they dare us to embrace that music, and perhaps even dance to it.
- Logan February, author of How to Cook a Ghost

Jennifer Patterson's debut collection shifts through life's seasons with a dignified whisper like "a trickle of snow melting from the eaves." Patterson takes a seam ripper to the self to reveal an immense and lush landscape in a constant state of becoming, where "time is woven like a fabric." Through all of the quiet, a song. Through all of the darkness and decay, "a ribbon of light," "a flowering vine." As she ventures further into the heart, she begs the question "Will I ever stop unraveling?" to which the answer is no, and thank goodness for that.
- Jessica Lynn Suchon, author of SCAVENGER

Jennifer Patterson takes the watery and airy elements of each painting and expands them to a stream of consciousness that examines emotions as stories to remember.
- Melanie Bikowski, author of Wild

In this lovely collection of poetry, Jennifer Patterson explores the complications of love and loving. The art by Joyanna Em punctuates such lovely lines as "What was once green and alive / says its goodbyes in cinnamon leaves." and ..".others who once savored the sweetness of honeysuckle / are now choking on the vines." The poetry is untitled, mysterious blends of words and meanings revealed only through immersion. Written mostly in couplets, some of the poetry rhymes. As poetry should, much of it rolls with recitation, like this passage, "While the roots of the tree had twisted, It was still growing toward the sky It struggles to find the fading light, So very much like you and I." Poetry is a subjective art, a glimpse into the soul that composed it. Within these poems, Jennifer Patterson explores love in its many forms, including religious and self. In all, this is an admirable book beautifully presented and edited, and a wonderful introduction of Jennifer Patterson and Joyanna Em's talents.
