Publisher Description:

Join Jeff Howatt, Master Maine Guide and storyteller, on an adventure on the Allagash Waterway. Two other river trips are included. Howatt brings you along as he leads groups through the wilderness paddling still water and rapids, portaging, dining along the water trail while enjoying all that Maine wilderness has to offer. Sit around the campfire each night and be entertained by stories of pratfalls and hi-jinks. Be heartened by a world a little simpler than our day-to-day technology-driven madness. Read this book for entertainment, give it to a friend who loves the Maine wilderness or to someone who just loves Maine. They will thank you.

Contributor Bio(s): Howatt, Jeffrey: - A ninth generation Mainer, Jeffrey Howatt teaches math in the same school district that he attended and where his grandmother taught. Like his grandmother before him he was graduated from University of Maine in Farmington. Howatt has paddled most all of Central and Northern Maine rivers and hiked most of her mountains including the Maine section of the Appalachian Trail from inside the New Hampshire border to Mt. Katahdin. He is married to Maria (another Maine Guide). They have four children, one still at home in Farmington where they garden to eat and put food by for the winter. Howatt hunts and fishes for their table. All four children still join their parents on canoeing and hiking adventures.
