Publisher Description:
Today's parents are bombarded with studies, statistics, advice and opinions on how to raise children. With every parenting expert advocating a different parenting strategy, it can be difficult for parents to know where to turn. "Zen Parenting" encourages parents to turn inward, listen to their instincts and find the expert hidden within.

"Zen Parenting" is filled with touching, inspiring and humorous anecdotes of what it means to parent in today's world. This short-story format allows readers to easily grasp and apply Zen concepts in their own lives. It offers practical insights into using the Zen practice of nonjudgmental awareness to deal with the day-to-day chaos and joy of parenting.

In a world of distractions, the focused attention of Zen can keep parents from missing out on their children's lives. Zen is about finding a place of stillness-the quiet place out of which answers come. This gentle book will help parents tune in to their inner wisdom, connect more deeply with their children and learn to appreciate every moment of parenthood, both the good and the bad.

Between them, the authors have raised or helped to raise 11 children. They are the editors of "Parenting With Spirit," a magazine dedicated to examining child-rearing from a spiritual perspective. Judith Costello is an artist with a master's degree in human development. Jurgen Haver is a personal consultant to Gary Johnson, the Governor of New Mexico, and the author of hundreds of articles on entrepreneurship, management, marketing, communications and public relations.
