Publisher Description: Desertification refers to the process of land degradation that results from various factors in arid, semi-arid and dry sub-humid areas.Characterized by climate variability, these lands sustain pastoralists and small-scale farmers, but are susceptible to desertification as a result of increasing human population, inappropriate government land-use policies, settlement, climate change, deforestation, expropriation of rangelands, land clearance, overgrazing, political instability and poverty. This work is founded on the principle that solutions for the problem of desertification and drought should emanate from the affected dry land populations, supported by partnerships with other concerned players, both national and international. These solutions and supporting partnerships are undertaken within the National Action Programmes(NAP) process as the main instrument for the implementation of the Convention for Combatin Desertification at the national level. I hope this work could be a solution for land degredation and desertification control around the world and specially in my country. With peace and enthousiam for Chad. Thanks again for all. |
