From The Preface:
Why did I write this book? Because I have a lot to say. Well, not really, writing a book was my intent for quite a while. A book about trading just evolved because I thought it to be relevant, and I do have my own opinions.

In June of 2011, when I retired from a 41 year teaching career, I was asked, at my retirement dinner, what was I going to do now. "Write a book", I inadvertently blurted. I guess that is what many say when they retire, although that was a goal I have thought about for quite a while.

A book about what? "A book on trading", I said. So, that was the beginning of my official writing career. My trading career is revealed in the following pages. Actually, I was always planning to write a book, from as far back as 1980. I had a lot of things going on at the time and I kept a log, in most cases, daily, of the events in my life.

I now have a huge packet that could certainly be an interesting book, but it would be a monster to edit and who is going to want to read about me anyway. I diverted my attention to what I thought may be an interesting and sometime true and sometime fictional accounts and events, both humorous and interesting, that led up to a career in trading. I believe that this book may be of interest to those who are involved in trading the markets, or anyone with a curiosity.

You see, I have lived through what most every trader have experienced, in the desire to reach the goal of becoming a successful trader. I have read quite a few books on trading and while many were informative, none taught me how to trade. For the most part, I believe trading is a "learn on the job" profession and as such, this book endeavors to illustrate what I have experienced in the process. Actually, unbeknownst to me, my trading career began well before I knew I wanted to become a trader. Although it may seem that some of the events I write about are unrelated to trading, in my opinion there are quite a few similarities in regard to personalities and emotions which exhibit a relationship to trading. Hopefully the reader will find some entertainment value as well as some beneficial trading tips within these pages.

Before you delve into the content, allow me to elaborate briefly on what I mean by true and/or fictional accounts and events. In order to deliver a message or get a point across, I may or may not have made up events or people. The occurrence or dialogue is not what is important; the relevancy is in the message. People, places, events and situations may or may not be true, or they may. Any resemblance to any event, person, place or thing is purely coincidental.

In many cases, I am relaying my experiences, frustrations and just general information, through a discussion with a therapist and my wife Andrea, and possible third parties. Is Andrea a real person, absolutely Is the therapist I confide in a real person? May or may not be. Are the others I may be conversing with real? They may or may not be real people. Are the exact discussions I have with Andrea, the therapist or anyone else real? Maybe or maybe not. I feel that instead of talking to myself, I may be perceived a bit more stable propagating a discussion with another. But, there is some stuff you just can't make up.
