Publisher Description: The authors deal first with the formation of personality; its structure, psychophysiology and psychopathology. Then the neuroses of childhood are presented as they manifest their symptoms in various bodily disorders or in unsatisfactory behavior patterns. Lastly, the neurotic manifestations in the adult are discussed, following the present accepted classification of adult neuroses. In both sections emphasis is given to treatment possibilities and treatment technique. Since the neuroses both of children and adults have the same origins it is a convenient and comprehensive arrangement for student and practitioner to have these common disorders discussed in one book. The style, however, is not too technical but that it should appeal to the layman whose interests touch upon this increasingly important group of personality disorders in the child and the adult. |
