She received a master's degree in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Oregon and her doctorate from Oregon State University with a dissertation titled "My Journey with Preservice Teachers: Reflecting on Teacher Characteristics that Bridge Multicultural Education Theory and Classroom Practice."
