Annotation: This book explores a major change in crime control whereby responsibility no longer rests primarily with state agencies, but is shared with a wide range of organizations and individuals. As a result, the role of the state becomes increasingly regulatory rather than one that actually controls policing. Including practical issues as well as ethical implications, this volume reveals how third party policing actually works, making it a valuable resource for students, academics and policy makers.
