Contributor Bio(s): Abbott, Lisa: - Lisa Abbott is an educator from Williamsville, NY who has taught children from kindergarten through grade 6. She received her M.Ed. from Lesley University in Cambridge, MA. She also received training from the Institute for Integrative Nutrition to practice as a health coach. Fitness and nutrition have always been an important part of her life. She has a vested interest in teaching children of all ages how to make healthy choices in order to lead healthy lives. Her first book, I Dig Figs, was written to help children make healthy food choices and learn about less know healthy foods. Her idea to write Be Kind to Your Mind next came naturally. Besides teaching children about having a healthy body, teaching them how to have a healthy mind is just as important. Be Kind to Your Mind focuses on emotional health and gives children mindfulness strategies to help them cope with life's challenges. Each simple, mindful practice is written with rhyme and rhythm to help children remember what to do if they become upset, anxious or worried and don't know what to do or how to handle a situation. The ideas presented in Be Kind to Your Mind are ones that can be learned and practiced for a lifetime.
