Nabb Research Center for Delmarva History and Culture at Salisbury University, the Salisbury Area Chamber of Commerce, and the Salisbury Jaycees to select over 200 images that help tell Salisbury s story. These images, many never-before-seen, take readers from the Great Fire of 1886, to the founding of Salisbury University in 1925, to the golden era of the 1950s and 1960s with hangouts such as Johnny s and Sammy s and the Polar Bar, and the birth of the downtown plaza. A lifelong resident of Maryland s Eastern Shore, Rhodes has authored previous Arcadia books on his native Crisfield and Somerset County, as well as a history of amusement parks in Maryland. |
