Publisher Description:
Many times in life we find ourselves in the midst of a troubled journey. Often the trouble is intensely personal, even spiritual, in nature. At such points, we need a guide, someone rooted in the solid reality of God's word. As the meditations show, John G. Lynch is such a guide.
Dr. Michael J. Kurtz
President, Lutheran Historical Society
Gettysburg, Pennsylvania

The mediations in this book center in Jesus' troubled journey to Jerusalem as told in Luke's gospel.

John Lynch writes that in God's undying faithfulness to us, God goes out to the highways and byways where we live. God goes inside of our hearts, beyond the fences we put up when we hold our peace. There, at the core of our hearts, God says, "Come to my banquet."

"God has a cross for us, but a resurrection too. God invites us to Come and be nourished at God's banquet," says Lynch.

The twelve sermons in this book are based on Gospel texts primarily from Luke. Sermons follow the Revised Common Episcopal, Lutheran and Roman Catholic lectionaries.

John Lynch is a Lutheran theologian and pastor. After achieving his doctorate in Paris, France, he served more than twenty years as a Roman Catholic priest. In 1982, after a long period of thought and prayer, he became a Lutheran pastor. He serves Magothy-Chelsea Community Lutheran Church, Pasadena, Maryland; Holy Trinity Lutheran, Laurel, Maryland; and the Maryland Institute of Pastoral Counseling, Annapolis.
