Publisher Description: Are increased deployments in the U.S. military associated with decreased retention? This report looks at retention of servicemembers in the decade following the Gulf War. The study casts doubt on hypotheses that say more deployment or hostile deployment causes lower retention. In fact, the study looks at the actual behavior of officers leaving active duty in relation to individual measures of deployment and does not find an association between increasing deployment and increasing separation rates. |
