| Publisher Description: The Journal for Star Wisdom 2012 is a special edition that addresses directly the challenges facing humanity in our time. It includes articles of interest on star wisdom (Astrosophy), as well as a guide to the correspondences between stellar configurations during the life of Christ and those of today. This guide comprises a complete sidereal ephemeris of geocentric and heliocentric planetary positions and an aspectarian for each day through the year. Published yearly, new editions are available beginning in October or November for the coming year. According to Rudolf Steiner, every step taken by Christ during his ministry between the baptism in the Jordan and the resurrection was in harmony with--and an expression of--the cosmos. Journal for Star Wisdom is concerned with the heavenly correspondences during the life of Christ and is intended to help provide a foundation for Cosmic Christianity's cosmic dimension, which has been largely absent from mainstream Christianity during its two-millennium history. Readers are invited to contemplate the current movements of the Sun, Moon, and planets against the background of the zodiacal constellations (sidereal signs) in relation to corresponding stellar events during the life of Christ. In this way, it becomes possible to open oneself to attune to the life of Christ in the etheric cosmos. Contributor Bio(s): Andreev, Daniel: - Daniel Andreev (1906-1959) was born in Berlin. His father was the well-known Russian writer Leonid Andreev. His mother Alexandra Veligorsky died during childbirth. Daniel's father, overcome with grief, gave up Andreev to Alexandra's sister Elizabeth Dobrov, who lived in Moscow. It was a critical event in Daniel Andreev's life, for in contrast to many of the Russian intelligentsia at the time, the maintained its Russian Orthodox faith. Daniel's childhood included contact with persons as his godfather Maxim Gorky. Daniel was conscripted as a noncombatant in the Soviet Army in 1942, and after the war he returned to writing fiction and poetry. Daniel Andreev was arrested in 1947, along with his wife and many of his relatives and friends, and sentenced to twenty-five years in prison, while his wife received twenty-five years of labor camp. All of previous writing was destroyed. With the rise of Khrushchev, Andreev's case was reviwed and his sentence reduced to ten years. He was released to his waiting wife in 1957, his health ruined following a heart attack in prison. While in prison, he had written the first drafts of The Rose of the World and Russian Gods (a collection of poetry), as well as The Iron Mystery, a play in verse. Andreev spent the last two years of his life finishing his work on these works. Andreev's wife Alla, realizing the negative reception the books would get from the Soviet authorities, hid them until the mid-seventies, but didn't publish them until Gorbachev and glasnost. The first edition of The Rose of the World (100,000 copies) quickly sold out, and since then several editions have been equally popular in Russia.Gray, Brian: - Brian Gray trained as an architect and has taught at Rudolf Steiner College in Fair Oaks, California, since 1981. He has taught classes to aspiring teachers in Waldorf schools around the world on such topics as the creation of the world and cosmic warmth from a spiritual perspective, sacred architecture, and the constitution of the human being, as well as various aspects of star wisdom (Astrosophy) related to biography, life cycles, karma, and reincarnation. A student of astrology since 1967, he has interpreted astrological charts for thousands of people and offers regular classes in observation of the stars and in Esoteric Christianity. Brian has discovered hidden astrological keys in several important works of literature, from the Parzival story of the Grail Knights to many parts of the Bible. He is the author of an upcoming "astrobiography" of Rudolf Steiner, Unfolding Destiny. He also teaches courses in the San Francisco and Los Altos extension programs of Rudolf Steiner College.McLaren Lainson, Claudia: - Claudia McLaren Lainson is a teacher and Therapeutic Educator. She has been working in the field of Anthroposophy since 1982, when she founded her first Waldorf program in Boulder, Colorado. She lectures nationally on various topics related to spiritual science, human development, the evolution of consciousness and the emerging Christ and Sophia mysteries of the twenty-first century. Claudia is the founder of Windrose Farm and Academy near Boulder. Windrose is a biodynamic farm and academy for collaborative work in Anthroposophic courses, Therapeutic Education, cosmic and sacred dance and nature-based educational programs. Claudia most recently founded the School for the Sophia Mysteries at Windrose Academy.Nurney, Sally: - Sally Nurney has been interested in astrology all her life, beginning her research with her "Sun sign" in elementary school. After several years of travel and exploration, she arrived at The StarHouse in Boulder, Colorado, in 1997 and quickly transitioned to the Sidereal perspective of reading the stars. Along with her studies in the Path of the Ceremonial Arts, she has deepened her direct understanding of the stars through research with David Tresemer at The StarHouse and study with Brian Gray at the Rudolf Steiner College in Fair Oaks California. He was a recognized pioneer and a published author in psychosophy (soul wisdom) and astrosophy (star wisdom), and traveled extensively as a speaker, teacher, and consultant. Dr. Bento was the Associate Dean of Academic Affairs at Rudolf Steiner College in Fair Oaks, California, and worked as a transpersonal clinical psychologist at the Center for Living Health in Gold River, California. He also guided social therapy seminars for Camphill Communities for more than twenty years. Dr. Bento was also the author of Holy Nights Journal and Meditation Cards & Booklet on the Eightfold Path and a frequent contributor to Journal for Star Wisdom. He died June 5, 2015.Tarnas, Richard: - Richard Tarnas is a professor of philosophy and cultural history at the California Institute of Integral Studies (CIIS, )San Francisco, and the founding director of its graduate program in Philosophy, Cosmology, and Consciousness. He also lectures on archetypal studies and depth psychology at Pacifica Graduate Institute, Santa Barbara. A graduate of Harvard and a former director of programs at Esalen Institute, he is the author of The Passion of the Western Mind, a history of the Western worldview from the ancient Greeks to the postmodern culture, which became both a bestseller and a required text in many universities. His most recent book, Cosmos and Psyche: Intimations of a New World View, received the Book of the Year Prize from the Scientific and Medical Network in the UK.Tresemer, David: - David Tresemer, Ph.D., has a doctorate in psychology, and is associate professor of psychology at Rudolf Steiner College for the certificate program in Counseling Psychology, with concentration in Anthroposophic Psychology. He has written in many areas, ranging from The Scythe Book: Mowing Hay, Cutting Weeds, and Harvesting Small Grains with Hand Tools, to a book about mythic theatre, War in Heaven: Accessing Myth Through Drama, and a book about astrology-seen-intelligently, Star Wisdom & Rudolf Steiner: A Life Seen Through the Oracle of the Solar Cross, as well as The Venus Eclipse of the Sun. David's has written many articles on the connection of celestial events to human experience.Farrants, Wain: - Wain Farrants discovered astrology (both tropical and sidereal) and Anthroposophy during his first years at the University of Toronto. After completing a BSc in psychology and mathematics, he spent more than three years teaching math at a secondary school in Mochudi, Botswana. Later, he traveled to England, where he became a biodynamic gardener in a Camphill Community for disabled adults in the North York Moors National Park. After a few years there, he assumed responsibility for the Botton Village Bookshop. He edited and coedited numerous books by Karl König, Peter Roth, Baruch Urieli, Peter Tradowsky, and Andrea Damico Gibson, and contributed a number of articles to the Christian Star Calendar. He also had considerable experience of a wide variety of orthodox, complementary medical, and alternative therapies. Wain died January 19, 2014, at the age of 65.Powell, Robert: - ROBERT POWELL, PhD, is an internationally known lecturer, author, eurythmist, and movement therapist. He is founder of the Choreocosmos School of Cosmic and Sacred Dance, and cofounder of the Sophia Foundation of North America. He received his doctorate for his thesis The History of the Zodiac, available as a book from Sophia Academic Press. His published works include The Sophia Teachings, a six-tape series (Sounds True Recordings), as well as Elijah Come Again: A Prophet for Our Time; The Mystery, Biography, and Destiny of Mary Madgalene; Divine Sophia--Holy Wisdom; The Most Holy Trinosophia and the New Revelation of the Divine Feminine; Chronicle of the Living Christ; Christian Hermetic Astrology; The Christ Mystery; The Sign of the Son of Man in the Heavens; Cultivating Inner Radiance and the Body of Immortality;and the annual series Star Wisdom (previously Journal for Star Wisdom). He presents at conferences and workshops on star wisdom themes and other anthroposophic topics.
