Publisher Description:
This book unifies, within a single framework, the disparate laws, regulations, and decrees that bear upon restrictive business practices in Venezuela. Aimed at both the novice and the expert, the book includes historical treatment of the laws and regulatory agencies as well as an extensive scholarly apparatus. In addition, the author presents important United States and European approaches to the problems of restrictive business practices that might be adaptable to the Venezuelan legal system. Because Venezuelan materials are not readily available outside the country, the appendices contain translations of the laws and regulations discussed in the text, including the important Decree 656. Promulgated in 1985, Decree 656 is now the principal regulation governing foreign investment in Venezuela.
