Publisher Description: Involved in expressionism, cubism and surrealism, Picasso is the outstanding painter during the first half of the 20th century. Innumerable publications to his person have appeared. In contrast to them this short guide delivers an overview of life and work of the controversial genius in not so many words and entertaining pictures. By developing a cubistic influenced comic style author Willi Bl Y and illustrator Thomas Thiesen come close to their aim: explaining art by art. |
Contributor Bio(s): Bloess, Willi: - When the Austrian master painter Friedensreich Hundertwasser (1928-2000) passed by a newsstand, he always asked first for illustrated magazines and comic books. This observation by the art historian Wieland Schmied is included in the new comic biography Hundertwasser, published by Willi BlöÃY. BlöÃY is both a publisher and an illustrator. He began with his comic biographies ten years ago. The booklets contain short comic scenes from the artists' lives as well as texts from which their main biographical data emerge. |
