Publisher Description:

His whole life-long, the surrealistic painter Dali was obsessed to come to terms with three key moments of his childhood in Spain. 1. The fear that in his parents eyes, he is only a rebirth of the dead first son, 2. the shocking effect that the pictures of venereal diseases discovered in his father's library have had on him, and 3. the betrayal of his father, whom he found in bed with his mother's sister. His "floating clocks" gain worldwide famousness and become a symbol for a reality losing control.

As featured on CNN, Time Magazine, People Magazine, LA Times, OK Magazine, and MSNBC Milestones of Art is a comic book biography series featuring the lives and legacies of some of Western Civilizations most influential artists. This issue features Salvador Dali.

Contributor Bio(s): Bloess, Willi: - When the Austrian master painter Friedensreich Hundertwasser (1928-2000) passed by a newsstand, he always asked first for illustrated magazines and comic books. This observation by the art historian Wieland Schmied is included in the new comic biography Hundertwasser, published by Willi BlöÃY. BlöÃY is both a publisher and an illustrator. He began with his comic biographies ten years ago. The booklets contain short comic scenes from the artists' lives as well as texts from which their main biographical data emerge.
