The person relating the story is telling hher grandchildren what nursing was like for her when she practiced as a nurse. She also relates the story of a colleague who was part of Operation Baby Lift at the end of the Vietnam war.

The book is appropriate for readers in the 3 to 6 grade reading level depending on the child's individual ability and understanding.

The purpose is to stimulate not only an interest in the profession of nursing but also to provide a story about an actual event in history.
