He has been a columnist at Billboard, the Village Voice, USA Weekend, the New York Daily News and the Sun-Sentinel. He has written catalog notes for art shows and liner notes for music albums. He was the Senior Vice-President/Executive Director of the Latin Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences. He holds a Ph.D. in Comparative Literature.
