Contributor Bio(s): Beserra, Donna: - Donna Beserra was inspired to write books because of a hobby she shared with her children. When they were very young, the children loved to act out fairy tales. Hoping to encourage their creativity, Donna began making costumes and allowing them to perform the stories on home video. Donna decided to invent her own fairy tale, and Twirly Shirley was born. Donna's first story was titled "Twirly Shirley In My Sister The Twister." Donna later decided to publish her story as a video and a book, so she could share the story with others. This later evolved into an entire series. Donna went on to publish Twirly Shirley In Hurricane Shirley, Twirly Shirley And The Brother Like No Other, and Twirly Shirley And The Tsunami Mommy. This led Donna to visit schools and children's groups to discuss reading and writing. At times some children performed Donna's stories at events throughout the community. Donna went on to add the Creative Creatures Interactive Series to her collection of published work. These books were designed to inspire kids to discover their talents. Each book features a different child, and animal in order to emphasize that every child is unique, and each individual has their own special talents. Donna has taught a variety classes based on these books. Donna continues to teach and work with children. She is currently producing animated movie versions of her stories.
