Publisher Description:
I was about 12 years old in 1946 when the Brinkworth Family's home-based, kitchen table model-business was founded by my parents, where wooden, hand-built model railway buildings were designed and constructed for the world famous Bassett-Lowke Ltd. retail store in Manchester England. My story chronicles my early wartime years in the UK, and later, working in my Father's business. It covers my family's immigration to Canada, and later, the re-establishing of the family model-building business, here in British Columbia in 1966. It records the progress as I follow my family dreams as a self-employed model builder, describing the many Architectural, Engineering, and Marine modeling, during the years prior to 1991.At that point in time, the direction of Brinkworth Models took a dramatic turn, as we were propelled unexpectedly, into the colourful world of Motorsport's. The next 26 memorable years of business, involving my wife and two Sons, could only be described as a roller-coaster, and is recorded in great detail both in words and images, inLiving the Family DreamThe Brinkworth Models StoryThe book contain 320 - 8.5 x 11 pages with more than 245 inserts and images, the majority of them full page color plates showing in detail all the various models that have been produced by the Brinkworth family during our 70 years of business. The last 26 years concentrates on our association with the motor-racing teams, and features every hand built Limited Edition build of automotive models we produced. At the end of the book is a comprehensive index, listing who they were built for, how many were produced, and when.
