Publisher Description:
This anthology is zeitgeist-agnostic, with some of its compositions covering elements that are at the very least evocative of a general set of ideas, beliefs, feelings etc. that are peculiar and traceable to particular points in history, but with time independent and most general a theme as a quintessential premise upon which this first volume comes to life, and then an evocation of the contemporary to medieval to general times in history. This is an idiosyncratic poetic expression of two friends, Busisiwe Buthelezi and myself, Ipfi Munakisi, best described as flagellant poets that love to write for themselves and cannot not write. As a quasi-therapeutic habitual indulgence of sorts, these poems are an antidote that at times proves to lend moments of serendipity, such that what seems to be a fair and next logical step was to share our work in the hopes that other people too can discover their own serendipitous moments.Rules don't exist to the creative mind, and perhaps that leaves room for new rules to be discovered in this depiction of poetry in its most organic state. A generous orthodoxy of two closet writers taking a leap to published authors. Each piece draws inspiration from our individual, and shared experiences, the socio-economic issues plaguing the continent of Africa and the rest of the world, coming of age, and plenty of imagination. Volume one of Miseducation of poetry is a poetic expedition exploring thought-provoking ideas, scratching a whole gamut of emotions, and an ultimate teleport to a world where our imaginations run free, and our fond memories never fade. We hope you will appreciate the authenticity of our creatively crafted collection, the passion, and the love that has gone into writing each piece. In the event that this is remotely a harbinger of good change to your mood, and sometimes in a way that is not apparent, then this first anthology volume has achieved its purpose. The themes in this anthology are intended for a mature audience. -Ipfi Munakisi, Busisiwe Buthelezi-Bronia Musimeki wrote: "Wow.... You were not named "Ipfi" for nothing...... Like a well so words spring out of you, it's current meandering to the ocean of vocabs... Evoking in me poesy that is deeper than the oceans, exploding in volcanic eruptions of catastrophic proportions...... Those are great thoughts and a wonderful piece you've written. I am inspired by your words, they've become my muse and so I wanna swim in the river of deep thoughts.. Your verses traverse my poetic universe. Bravo to you Shakespeare the junior"
