Publisher Description:
Please note that the content of this book primarily consists of articles available from Wikipedia or other free sources online.

The complement system is a biochemical cascade that helps, or "complements," the ability of antibodies to clear pathogens from an organism. It is part of the immune system called the innate immune system that is not adaptable and does not change over the course of an individual's lifetime. Three biochemical pathways activate the complement system: the classical complement pathway, the alternative complement pathway, and the mannose-binding lectin pathway. This book studies the complement system of proteins including C4A, complement component 2, IC3b, factor D, CD18, and C3a receptor.

Project Webster represents a new publishing paradigm, allowing disparate content sources to be curated into cohesive, relevant, and informative books. To date, this content has been curated from Wikipedia articles and images under Creative Commons licensing, although as Project Webster continues to increase in scope and dimension, more licensed and public domain content is being added. We believe books such as this represent a new and exciting lexicon in the sharing of human knowledge.
